July in Shenzhen is not messing around. When the city is cooking at 35°C and your air-con starts to feel like a prison sentence, Pingshan's forested valleys are waiting — waterfalls, cool mountain pools, and dense woodland canopy that drops the temperature the moment you step in. All three spots below are free, metro-accessible, and genuinely refreshing.

⛰️ Adventure pick
Maluan Mountain Country Park
马峦山郊野公园

🗺 Pingshan District · 💰 Free · 🕐 Open daily
The most dramatic of the three. Cascading waterfalls and natural pools are connected by an official hand-built trail — easy wading sections near the entrance give way to a proper wilderness gorge the further you venture. Dense broadleaf forest creates natural shade overhead; you'll feel the temperature drop the moment you step into the valley.
💡 Come on a weekday — it gets packed on weekends. Bring water shoes and a dry change of clothes.

🚇 Metro Line 14 → Jinlong Station (锦龙站) → Bus M294 / 366 / 833
🚌 Direct buses: E22, M294, 366, 833 to Maluan Mountain Country Park stop
🚗 Self-drive: Northwest Gate (西北门) of Maluan Mountain Country Park
👨👩👧 Family pick
Toudi Park
头陂公园

🗺 Pingshan District · 💰 Free · 🕐 Open daily
The safest bet for families with young kids. The stream bed is shallow throughout — naturally smoothed, no sharp rocks, no deep sections. Wide lawns alongside the water for picnics, shaded rest areas, and proper walking paths. No hiking required. Just show up and cool down.
💡 One of the few spots where kids can splash freely with no current or depth worries. Stroller-friendly paths run along the bank.

🚇 Metro Line 16 → Tianxin Station (田心站) Exit A → ~13 min walk
🚌 Bus 939 / M296 / M440 → "对面喊居民小组" stop → 200m walk
🚗 Self-drive: navigate to 头陂公园
✨ Vibe pick
Jingui Hakka Village
金龟客家古村

🗺 Pingshan District · 💰 Free entry · 🕐 Open daily
The most atmospheric of the three. A crystal-clear mountain spring runs straight through a restored Hakka village — shallow water winding between mossy stone lanes and old buildings draped in green. There's a boutique camping resort, a natural bookstore (金龟自然书房), and enough shade to spend an entire afternoon here without feeling the sun once.
💡 Consider staying overnight at Jingui Camping Resort (金龟露营小镇) — evenings are noticeably cooler than the city and mornings are stunning.

🚇 Metro Line 14 → Jinlong Station (锦龙站) Exit A → Bus 833 / M220 to Jingui Village (金龟村)
🚌 Bus 818 / M279 / M343 / 915 → Jingui Village stop (金龟村站)
🚗 Navigate to: 金龟自然书房 / 金龟露营小镇. Parking at camping resort or Xintang / Banda Village lots.
